Oregon Brewers Festival

Oregon Brewers Brunch
& Parade

Portland, Oregon has a "friendship city" relationship with Utrecht, Netherlands. Oregon Brewers Festival director Art Larrance learned of this and the growing craft brewing movement in the Netherlands; he was introduced to Mark Strooker, head brewer for Rooie Dop, who told him about the Borefts Bier Festival in Bodengraven, NL.

Art visited the Borefts Bier Festival this past fall, and realized these brewers are on a similar journey that the brewers in Oregon began in 1984. Art decided to bring a handful of craft brewers & their beer from the Netherlands and share with them our collective enthusiasm, knowledge and friendship, thereby further demonstrating to the world why craft brewers are successful because they make good beer!

At its start, the Oregon Brewers Festival gave locals a chance to taste what others were brewing in an industry that was only several years old, and helped notify the world that Portland, Oregon was going to be a craft beer Mecca. The Oregon Brewers Festival sees #NLtoPDX as a natural progression in the evolution of craft brewing worldwide; we plan on continuing to bring craft beers from other parts of the country, and now the world, to Portland as part of a collective celebration of great craft beer.

Welcome to Bierbrouwerij Emelisse, Brouwerij Rodenburg, Brouwerij 't IJ, Microbrouwerij Rooie Dop, Brouwerij Maximus, Brouwerij Duits & Lauret, Brouwerij de Molen, Oedipus Brewing, Het Uiltje, Oersoep & Ramses Bier, all from the Netherlands; plus Brauerei Nothhaf from Germany for an even dozen.
